#PYNKTunes: @ElleVarner x HighLine Ballroom

On Friday, August 10th, 2012

RCA Record’s own Elle Varner graced the Highline Ballroom stage last night to celebrate the release of her debut album “Perfectly Imperfect” (released 8/7/12).

The soulful songbird gave an amazing performance to a sold-out crowd, managing to sound even more incredible than she does on the album.

She started her set with “EV,” a harmonious take on Jay-Z’s “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” off of her “Conversational Lush” mixtape. She then took the crowd on a melodic journey through the material on her debut album.

From the beat-box assisted “So Fly” to the heavily hip-hop influenced “Only Wanna Give It To You” to her current single “I Don’t Care,” Elle kept concert-goers captivated with the range, control, and raw emotion of her voice. She winded down the show with fan-favorite “Refill,” which included a breakdown of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You.”

But it was Elle’s performance of the show’s closer “Not Tonight” that gave fans goose bumps and left them wanting more. Simply put, Elle Varner’s performance was perfect and #PYNKapproved.
