Cosmetics CEO and trendsetter Keyshia Ka’oir launched her very own cosmetics line back in 2011. Known for her bold and edgy style, she wanted to create a line that represented everything about her and women just like her. Ka’oir’s collection is full of lipsticks, nail lacquers, lip glosses, and eye shadows that look great on all ethnicities. Last year with the success of rapper Trina’s collaboration with Ka’oir, Keyshia decided to pick Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi from MTV’s Jersey Shore. Snooki’s vibrant personality and daring fashion statements was the perfect match for this cosmetic line. The new Snooki shade is a bright pink with a matte finish called Snookilicious. We caught up with the cosmetics owner about her recent celeb collaboration.

How did the idea come about to collaborate with Snooki?

When I launched Ka’oir, I had the idea of endorsing a shade with a celebrity every year. After the success of Trina’s neon rock star, I had the idea of choosing Snooki next. She is bold, unique, and doesn’t care what anybody thinks of her, which is what Ka’oir is all about. To be able to rock the brand you have to be confident.

For those girls who like to stay in the box, what would you say to persuade them into purchasing the bold colors in your line?

To wear Ka’oir you have to be confident and feel that you look good, if not will show to others.

How involved was Snooki the process of her lipstick shade?

She was very much involved, I actually wanted her to create a blue or purple but she wanted a pink that can be worn everywhere by anyone.

What is the process of creating bold lip color?

For a while, I will just sit and think about what shade I want next. When I made pool party, I knew I wanted something bright or turquoise because of the darker blue success I called the chemist and they put the color together. Also, you have to look at texture, if it’s too creamy the color will look to sheer so that’s why we go with matte formulas.

You seem like a very bold person, how does your line reflect your personality?

Ka’oir is all me, from the colors, names of the shades, brand packaging and everything else.  Everytime I create something new I will think to myself saying “ If I won’t wear it I won’t make it”.

What is the most exciting part about working with Snooki?

I found out how nice and smart she is and how funny and professional she is also.
